Think of Finals as the Olympics and C&IS Ambassadors as your personal trainers. We are laying out a guide to success so you can go for the big “W” and bring home the gold.
As a veteran of the Finals game, I know that if you follow these survival tips the odds will be ever in your favor. Good luck with finals from the entire C&IS team.
- Food- Snacks are your best friend. You’re going to be constantly on the go so always carry at least a couple bags of snack food. I recommend sticking to the healthier variety of things such as trail mix. But if you’re not about that life, please just refrain from crunchy anything. You don’t want to be that guy/gal at the library everyone’s glaring at because you’re making so much food noise.
- Hydration- If you don’t already drink coffee… start. Coffee during finals is a way of life. It will get you through anything finals week throws at you.
- Tools- If your test is on a scantron, you need to bring a pencil. And make sure you bring five. There is no such thing as excess during finals. The more, the merrier.
- Apparel- You need to be swift and agile for any situation, so your clothes must reflect this attitude. I recommend you stick to running shoes and comfy sporty clothes so you’re always ready to go. If you need to sprint from the library to your class… you’re on it. You woke up a little late… no big deal. You’re clothes must be able to embrace this.
- Sleep- During finals week, you might find yourself pondering… what is sleep? It’s okay; it happens to the best of us. Try and get as much sleep as you possibly can but keep in mind that now is not the time to hibernate. A pillow might be a nice addition to your library study load. Power naps in between studying do wonders for the mind and body.
- Shelter- Due to lack of sleep, you might not remember where you live exactly. That’s okay. During finals, a place to sleep is fair game. If you just need to pass out on the quad for a hot minute to regain you strength, now is the time to do it. Everyone is very understanding of how real the struggle is during finals.
As a veteran of the Finals game, I know that if you follow these survival tips the odds will be ever in your favor. Good luck with finals from the entire C&IS team.
